Our philosophy

Our aim is to develop a culture of learning, hard work and hard training. We focus on teaching a complete and overall understanding of what makes Jiu Jitsu work, enabling our students to understand the ‘why’ of each position. By building an understanding of the underlying principles and concepts of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu our students will be empowered with the freedom to then creatively develop their own style, and take charge of their own training.

All the taught sessions at CF24 are built around 3 main aspects: Concepts, Details and Systems

Each topic taught will be introduced using a key underlying concept of the technique/position. This gives a simple rule set or plan to follow which will enable the practitioner to understand the key aspects of the technique/position.

No technique is effective in isolation; the key to success is the development of an effective repertoire of techniques. All of the content at Two Four jiu jitsu is taught in context of how they sit in their respective systems. This will give you an understanding of your route of progression and enable you to build your game effectively.

The devil is in the detail and that is especially true in jiu jitsu. All the sessions have a focus on the key details of each position/technique with multiple methods of teaching aids used to reinforce whats being taught. The session may include reviewing competition footage - studying world class athletes and their games or breaking down the mechanics of a position using a whiteboard. We expose you to many teaching methods to give you the best chance for improvement.

Frequently asked questions

+ What is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu?

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is a martial art and combat sport. The main focus of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is to effectively control your opponent using technique and leverage, with the ultimate goal of submitting them using a choke or joint lock.

+ What will my first session be like?

The most important thing to remember on your first session at CF24 Jiu Jitsu is to have fun because regardless of your goals this is what will bring you back for years to come.

Jiu Jitsu is a high intensity activity, a typical lesson will consist of a warm up that includes specific movements or drills, followed by a taught technique and finished with live sparring. On average you can expect to burn 1000 calories an hour, so bring a towel and plenty of water.

Due to its Brazilian roots you can expect a hard working but fairly informal atmosphere during class. Sessions are interspersed with laughing and joking with friends one minute, and working hard on developing the skills to choke them out the next.

+ What should I wear?

If you don’t have a gi (the uniform worn in Jiu Jitsu) then a t-shirt that you don’t mind getting ripped and a pair of board shorts or tracksuit bottoms will be suitable. Just make sure there are no zips or buttons.

+ Do I need to be physically fit?

The truth is that BJJ is for everyone. This means that you start the journey where you are today. Your fitness will improve as you train and there’s no need to put off attending your first class.
